FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
· Why not run the slots off the edge of your Pro Slot Rotors?
· Running the slots off the edge of the rotor produces the same detrimental effect as drilling the rotor; it compromises the integrity by creating stress too close to the outside edge, which promotes cracking.
· Is Cryogenics really beneficial to even a Brake Rotor?
· Yes, picture this: you have a virgin piece of steel that is fresh but stressed from being cast, then it is machined, balanced, and bi-directionally ground, just having a new part without slotting is in dire need of being normalized. From this point we Double Slot and plate the Rotor. With all this work already being done, Cryogenics adds the icing to the cake! Giving it resistance to wear and warping. Giving you the Performers edge of dependability of the Vac-U-Slots and the savings of wear resistance.
· What is, Drilling, Out-Gassing, Slotting?
· Well, drilling was the first attempt to release the gasses that build up pressure between the rotor surface and the friction material reducing brake efficiency. This problem is called "Out-Gassing" created by the friction material. The problem of drilling the rotor to relieve out-gas is that the integrity of the rotor is compromised because the mass is lessened at critical points promoting cracks. So, that is where Slotting comes in to save the day by venting and vacuuming the hot gas, dirt, and wetness away from the surface of the rotor, giving you optimum braking efficiency without the worries of premature cracking using our 2-pass slotting technique.
